Japan allows North Korean sports to enter the Olympic-related meetings, and the Japanese media is rare.

North Korea has indicated its intention to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. The Japanese government also believes that the entry permit for participation in Olympic-related meetings can be understood by public opinion.

The heads of the DPRK and the ROK agreed to hold cooperation at the third meeting of the year in Pyongyang in September to realize the DPRK-ROK team's participation in the Tokyo Olympics and the joint bid for the 2032 Summer Olympics. Kim Ilok Kok was considered to be also likely to contact South Korea during his stay in Tokyo to discuss Korean-Korean cooperation in sports.
